“Aviation Monographies” the seventh in the row issue has as a theme the most famous Ace pilot of all times: the Air force major Eric Hartman of Luftwaffe in WWII.Eric Hartman within two and a half years of service, from 1942 until 1945 accomplished 352 shooting downs in 1,428 war missions which included 852 air fights all in the Eastern front. Among the aircrafts he shot down there are seven P-51D Mustang. The rest of his 345 shooting downs were against the soviet air force. Most of them involved fighters. He was never shot down and never injured. When the war ended he surrendered to the Americans but they handed him over to the Soviets who kept him in prison under the worst conditions for 10 years. His wife was waiting for him for all of this time. In postwar years he was the commander of a Wing with F-86 which had the same colors like the Bf109G “Black Toulip” he flew in the war. <> The issue includes his whole war action, his torturing period as a prisoner, over 100 photos, tables with all his shooting downs and large (A4) color profiles (side views) of his aircrafts.
